Gil Authentic Rural Gin is filtered with a linen cloth so it has a characteristic yellow colour. On the nose it’s a complex gin, with mineral and stony notes mixed with the strong sweet aroma of bergamot and other citrus fruits. There are also light floral and earthy notes. On the palate it’s rich and powerful, fresh and sapid. The notes of mint and other herbs leave a persistent slightly bitter flavour on the palate that is very refreshing. Gil can be enjoyed neat or mixed.
Gil is handcrafted with a distilling method frm the 1800s and it’s filtered with a linen cloth as it was back then. It has only botanicals from Calabria, in the south of Italy.
History and curiosities
Gil was a doctor working on Captain Jefferson’s ship and landed on the shores of Calabria in the XIX Century. He liked the juniper berries that grew wild there and he started experimenting to distill a rural gin made only with botanicals from Calabria. Gil Authentic Rural Gin is made with the same recipe invented by Doctor Gil.
